Metal Door Rattle

Uncategorized

After a few years of use a metal door will not fit tightly when closed.  At those times, when a breeze blows or internal air conditioning turns on you might hear a rattle from the door vibrating against the jamb.

What most people don’t notice is that there are flexible bumpers inserted into the jamb and over time they get compressed or even disappear.  There are two or three used on each jamb and there is a special wire tool that makes installation easy.

If yours are just compressed, you can use the installation tool to simply push them inside the frame, making the hole ready to receive the new bumper.  If they won’t push in, just use a knife to cut them off.

Door bumpers are a standard size and can usually be obtained from a local door company.

This site is intended to address lock problems. There are a number of typical problems listed and clicking on one will get the answer most commonly associated with it. If all your questions are not answered, post a comment/question.

This is a moderated site so please keep comments clean and honest if you want them to be shown. We do NOT answer questions related to safes. There are many resources related to safes that are much more knowledgable about them than we are. We only know enough about safes to make us dangerous.

We do not answer questions about how to make a surreptitious entry either. If you have a question that is not covered, post a question as a reply on any article. Thanks for visiting.
